AGROINDUSTRY cluster was founded in February 2010 and represents a point that unites the network of agricultural producers and processors, which extends over the Bačka region. The cluster was created based on the initiative of 7 renowned agricultural producers and processors, who recognized the need for mutual cooperation and association. These producers and processors represent the initial energy and driving force of the cluster, which multiplied through the implementation of a series of projects and joint activities. The cluster includes more than 50 members and three support institutions. We strive for the cluster to become a strategic instrument for developing competitiveness and encouraging innovation in the work of its members, but also in the overall sector of agriculture and the food industry of our region. During 2022, the initiative to transform into a BIOECONOMY cluster was accepted
Briefly about the field of activity
AGROINDUSTRIJA cluster represents a point that unites the network of agricultural producers and processors of primary agricultural products, which extends over the region of northern Bačka. Field of business: agriculture and processing industry. Key products: cereals, livestock, vegetables, fruit and organic food production. Through the networking and cooperation of members and relevant actors, joint efforts are directed towards achieving profitable, competitive and sustainable conventional and organic food production. Apart from food production, the members intend to diversify their production towards the production of energy from renewable sources. Orientation towards the green economy and bioeconomy is increasingly being adopted among cluster members. Activities rely on world, European and national programs in this area
Objectives
The basic goals and tasks of the Cluster AGROINDUSTRIJA Association are to:
- develops and encourages the improvement of agricultural production and the food industry in the country, while focusing on the development of the bioeconomy,
- be in the function of realizing and preserving the common interests and needs of its members in the field of agricultural production and food industry, using opportunities for developing the bioeconomy;
- establish a unique system of informing its members about all issues of interest for the performance of agricultural production, food industry, or bioeconomy;
- provides professional and advisory assistance to its members;
- creates and encourages the development of agricultural production and food industry with a focus on the bioeconomy, making use of international experiences and achievements;
- achieves cooperation with organizations and associations of agricultural production and food industry in the country, countries in the region and European and world associations;
- monitors the legislation, the existing situation and current problems in the agricultural production and food industry in Serbia;
- works on improving agricultural production and food industry, introducing and implementing modern world experiences and achievements in this area, including energy production from renewable sources, with a focus on bioeconomy;
- works on the establishment of standards and rules, as well as their application in the field of environmental protection and preservation;
- works on improving the information of the general public about the organization and implementation of marketing activities as well as publishing-propaganda and information activities in this area;
- develops and fosters mutual solidarity and reciprocity among members and other participants in the trade of goods and services in the sector of energy production from renewable sources;
- organizes the training of representatives of members and other interested parties, through the organization of seminars, workshops and study trips, specific trainings in cooperation with research and educational institutions for the purpose of education and professional training of members and others, as well as other types of professional training.
Realized projects
USAiD DAI, Oct 2010 – Oct 2011
Increasing the competitiveness of the Agroindustry cluster association through business missions, feasibility study, promotion and education, Project value: 15,510 USD cluster was the Lead Partner.
Within the project:
- the design and visual identity of the cluster were prepared, the first website of the cluster was created, and the first brochure of the cluster was created,
- two educational seminars were organized,
- the first on the topic of market performance “Market and market connection – Global trends”, and the second on the topic of cluster internationalization,
- the concept of cluster development,
- and a study on the topic of programs by which as many members of the cluster as possible could cooperate,
- two B2B meetings were organized with members of associations and clusters in Hungary (Sarvaš) and Slovenia (Celje), during which several business contacts were established.

The project aimed at networking, establishing cross-border cooperation and exhibiting at the fair, Project value RSD 220,000.00,
Within this project, cooperation was established with the Faculty of Agriculture and Water Management from Sarvaš at the University of Saint Istvan, with the simultaneous presence of representatives of the Faculty of Economics from Subotica, Singidunum University, Open University, TERRAs, the Tourist Cluster of Subotica Palić Microregion and SMER . As part of the activities of the Faculty from Sarvaš, there is also a cluster in the field of agriculture and food production, with which communication and cooperation have also been established. A performance at the Biznis Baza fair in Belgrade was also organized.

Education of cluster members in the function of MSPP development, Project value RSD 100,000.00. As part of the Project, two training sessions were held on the topic of business development and services of the cluster to its members and marketing of agricultural and food products. In addition, the Agroindustry cluster participated in a meeting organized by the Center for Cluster Development in Novi Sad (FTN), and provided data and information about its activities, which were also registered in the Provincial Secretariat’s Brochure on successful clusters in AP Vojvodina.
City of Subotica – Strengthening of capacity and diversification of production, 2013
This project dealt with capacity building for diversification of production and preparation for export of family agricultural households and farms, project value RSD 193,146,92.
The project is supported by the City of Subotica, as part of a larger project related to supporting the diversification of production of agricultural products and the food produced from them, by encouraging farmers to access certain stages of processing their primary agricultural products (storage, drying, freezing, pressing , other types of processing). As part of the project, a business plan model was prepared for establishing the production of new crops or crops that could be introduced and were previously produced in this region, as a model related to food processing. Advisory services were also provided to cluster members (30 hours). In addition, training was held on the topic of project cycle management

Increasing competitiveness through innovation and application of standards, City of Subotica 2014
Increasing competitiveness through innovation and application of standards, Project value RSD 413,962.00;
Through this project, the introduction of standards related to food production among cluster members was promoted, as well as encouraging the introduction of innovations in the business of cluster members. In this sense, two trainings were held on the topic of innovative business – “Program for the improvement of innovation in SMEs and registered agricultural farms”, that is, the introduction of standards related to food production – “Review of quality standards and environmental protection”. The Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad was also jointly visited and participation in the Biofest Fair in Subotica was organized. As part of the preparations, a leaflet about the cluster and its members’ activities was prepared, which was distributed at fairs.
National Agency for Regional Development, Ensuring a higher level of product processing and forming a value chain towards the tourism sector, 2015
Ensuring a higher level of product processing with the formation of a value chain for the tourism sector, Project value RSD 260,000.00, Financed by NARR, realized in the period 15.12.2014 – 5.10.2015. years;
Within this project, two studies were prepared. One of them related to connecting cluster members in order to reach higher stages of processing of primary products, primarily fruits and vegetables, while the other related to the placement of local products in the tourism sector, in which special emphasis was placed on apples and apple products. As part of the project, a mutually beneficial cooperation was later achieved with the Tourism Cluster of the Subotica Palić microregion on connecting food production with placement in tourist facilities. At the same time, examples of good practice of cooperation between the two sectors of the economy were also presented

The following activities were carried out within this project:
- Strengthening the services of the cluster towards MSME members of the cluster, as well as non-members who are involved in the activities during the implementation of the project and after it (suppliers, subcontractors, etc.) – through online sales, i.e. a store that is formed within the Cluster,
- Organizing an innovative form of joint production within the cluster, with equipment procured by the cluster and new technology at least 4 lines each:
- packaging of vegetables, fruits and processed food,
- processing of domestic vegetables and fruits (dried tomatoes and tomato and carrot juice, gherkins, pepper fillets, beets, ajvar, pindju, pickles and mixed salads, jams and spreads, compote)
- Meat processing (cured meat products) i
- The production of cold-pressed oils from nuts, which will enable joint production and increase the degree of processing and finalization of the product, whereby the greater part of the production will be organized in rural areas,
- Establishment of value chains (4 chains through joint packaging of fruits, vegetables and processed products, processing of domestic vegetables and fruits, meat processing and production of cold-pressed nut oils)
- Organizing a network of suppliers and processors, along with the formation of channels for processing and marketing of processed primary agricultural products in the country, namely conventional and traditional domestic food through specialized stores, i.e. marketing of processed products abroad, especially through an online store.

BIO-AGRO-DOM, Development Agency of Serbia, October 2016 – May 2017
BIO-AGRO-DOM – Innovative development of clusters, associations and SMEs by strengthening competitiveness and connecting through value chains in the production of conventional, more valuable domestic and organic food Project value RSD 6,632,778.00, Partner in the project, Financed by the Development Agency of Serbia, in the period October 2016 – May 2017. Participation of multiple cluster members.
Within this project, the following activities were implemented:
1: Formation of a service center within the Agroindustry cluster, which will organize the following services:
1.1. Trainings for organic production and traditional food production, 1.2. Counseling for members of clusters and associations in the field of organic food production and domestic food; 1.3. Mentoring for members of clusters and associations, new ones and those expanding production or market presence, 1.4. Standardization of domestic food, 1.5. Branding of domestic and organic food products, 1.6. Formation of distribution channels in the country, especially placement in specialized stores 1.7. Export support, especially to neighboring countries.
- Procurement and installation of machines and equipment (3 sets): 2.1. one set of equipment refers to the candiing of organic cherries and other fruits, with which product processors will process cherries, apricots, plums for the final product that will be packaged and marketed. 2.2. one set of equipment refers to the production of juices (from fruits and vegetables) 2.3. one set of equipment refers to the labeling of small batch products (homemade and organic food), 2.4. Consulting technologists.
- Establishing a value chain for product placement. 3 value chains are defined (organic food, conventional and domestic traditional food), establishment of a distribution and placement line in the country and establishment of a placement line abroad-export, service center services in support of further development of the value chain – transfer of experience.
- Organizing a network of suppliers and processors, along with the formation of channels for processing and marketing of processed primary agricultural products in the country, namely conventional and traditional domestic food through specialized stores, i.e. marketing of processed products abroad, especially through an online store.




AGRO-New Line, Development Agency of Serbia, 2017
Joint new line for processing fruit, cereals into crackers and fruit bars, 2017. Participation of several members of the cluster. Project supported by the Development Agency of Serbia, the amount of RSD 2,700,000.00. Participation of multiple cluster members.
This project improved the production capabilities of cluster members – users, who will use the acquired equipment in a way that increased their production capacity and enabled them to produce new products with which they will appear on the market. Other members of the cluster who deliver fruit to them for processing have a new market segment at their disposal for those products that they marketed as primary agricultural products or could not use them at all (for example, fruit growers those parts of fruit production that could not be sold as table fruit).
When it comes to the community, it received a new concept of cooperation of MSMEs operating within the cluster, where it is characterized by innovation in two directions: 1. production of new products, the latest technologies, which enable better product quality (fruit bars and crackers) and more diverse products on the market. 2. Furthermore, the community received a group of producers of conventional and organic food that ambitiously enters new value chains, through mutual cooperation from primary production, processing into conventional products, while keeping fruit in the refrigerator for continuous processing throughout the year. years.




Participation in the implementation of projects supported by the EU Program
- ADRION First call, no: 605 – BIOECO RDI – AGROINDUSTRY cluster is included in the project activities of the ALMA MONS Novi Sad company in 2018, 2019, 2020. Cluster AGROINDUSTRY organized the development of the regional strategy for the development of BIOECONOMY in Serbia, AP Vojvodina, using the participatory method. It also participated in various project activities such as the Novi Sad Fair in May 2019, organized a demonstration event, capacity building and a series of online conferences and workshops organized within the Project during 2020.
- HUSRB / 1602/41/0214 – CORNUCOPIA – AGROINDUSTRY cluster was involved in the preparation of the study and the organization of events in 2019 and 2020. AGROINDUSTRY cluster elaborated the analysis and developed a business plan for three plants: hemp, spelled and sorghum. The analysis of each plant contained guidelines for farmers for the cultivation and processing of related crops / plants, and it includes a presentation of agroecological conditions and production technology and an analysis of the feasibility / profitability of investing in the appropriate plants plant production (calculation of investment, raw materials and related costs, total turnover, profit )
- HUSRB / 1602/31/0209 Creation and positioning of the Danube Wine Route as a tourist and cultural brand in the cross-border region. AGROINDUSTRIY cluster participated in the organization of the event in Sremski Karlovci, presenting the products of its members.
