BIOECONOMY Cluster – Srbia received a sertifikate – EU Danube Region Strategy PA8 LIGHTHOUSE

  • by

Priority Area 8 “Enterprise Competitiveness” of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) has contracted a study to identify flagship projects in the Danube Region and to implement communication measures to disseminate knowledge about these flagship projects accordingly. The study was carried out by Steinbeis Europa Zentrum (Steinbeis 2i GmbH) together with its subcontractors, the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia and Pannon Business Network (Hungary).

The primary objective is to identify 30 flagship projects in three key sectors: (1) green technologies, circular economy and circular bioeconomy, (2) digitalisation, artificial intelligence, metaverse and virtual worlds and (3) supply chains and finance. Ten flagship projects will be selected in each sector.

The main focus of this study was to strengthen communication efforts to share the successes, activities and best practices of these flagship projects. This will help to spread their impact and foster cooperation and exchange across the Danube Region. Furthermore, this study aims to contribute to building innovation ecosystems in the Danube Region that can better support SMEs, increasing the competitiveness of enterprises.

The 14th Annual EUSDR Forum will be organized by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, represented by the Directorate for European Integration of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will be held from 5 to 6 November 2025 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of this event, the EUSDR PA 8 – Workshop on “Lighthouse” Initiatives from the Danube Region will be held on 6 November 2025, starting at 9:30 AM in the Neretva Hall. This workshop highlights pioneering projects in green technology, circular economy and bioeconomy from across the Danube Region — highlighting how sustainable innovations can drive both environmental progress and economic resilience. The study identifies initiatives that combine circularity and green technologies with practical business impact. The session will include project presentations, a panel discussion and the award ceremony of the “EUSDR Priority Area 8 Lighthouse” certificate — encouraging exchange, inspiration and replication across the region.

It was with great enthusiasm and gratitude that we received the information that the BIOECONOMY Cluster was among the selected initiatives and that we will be awarded this prestigious certificate on that occasion.
