Memorandum of Understanding – National Hub of Serbia for Bioeconomy

On Friday, September 26, 2025, within the framework of the CEE2ACT HORIZON project and the newly formed National HUB of Serbia for Bioeconomy, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the coordinators of the HUB Institute for Forestry and members of the HUB. On behalf of the host, Dr. Nevena Čule, coordinator of the CEE2ACT reception for Serbia and HUB coordinator, greeted us.

So far, 20 institutions have signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of cooperation between the key actors of the bioeconomy in the Republic of Serbia:

The signing of the memorandum was organized at the Scientific Research Station of the Institute of Forestry “Lipovica”. It is located within the forest complex Lipovička šuma, on the territory of the city municipalities of Barajevo and Čukarica, Belgrade. The scientific research station is used for field research, education (eg field teaching for students), preservation of the gene pool of rare forest species. As part of the station, there is a unique living archive of rare fruit species of forest origin transferred from the untouched forests of the national parks of Eastern and Western Serbia.

This meeting filled with a constructive atmosphere, inspiring proposals and expressed willingness of the members to get involved in the future activities of the National Center for Bioeconomy left a strong impression and showed that we are all on the right path towards the sustainable development of the bioeconomy in Serbia.
