In the Congress hall of Novi Sad Fair in Novi Sad, ALMA MONS has organized capacity building event for policy makers in Serbia related to the potentials and opportunities for bioeconomy concept development. The panel was held between 10.00 -12.00 am. As a target group, there were present representatives of the Government of Republic of Serbia, Secretariats of the Provincial Government of AP Vojvodina, Cities of Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Sombor and Subotica, as well as other self-governments in AP Vojvodina.
Milica Vracaric from ALMA MONS presented to the audience the framework of the project BIOECO RDI, financed through ADRION programme, emphasizing the importance that policy makers understand this concept and introduce it into current creation of national, regional and local polities. As for introduction, Nemanja Stanisavljevic,PhD from Faculty of Technical Sciences Novi Sad shortly presented the qualitative and quantitative aspects of municipal waste management in bioeconomy, while Dragica Brankovic from City administration of Novi Sad gave focus on regional plan of Novi Sad regional dump administration. Stevan Vujansinovic from CAN EUROPE spoke on concept of sustainable cities and climatic change impacts. Goran Knezevic from Green Mile Team-Biogas Association has presented the case of impact of biogas power plants on development of bioeconomy in Serbia, while Andrea Gluscevic from PALGO SMART has discussed the open data as paradigm for sustainable cities.
After these presentations, Mr. Goran Vasic, PhD, moderated very interesting and lively discussion between the policy makers on issues of bioeconomy – how to introduce the concept of bioeconomy into current policies and legislation in Serbia and AP Vojvodina, how not to mix-up bioeconomy with the circular economy, which sectors to start with, how to give incentives to businesses to support the development of bioeconomy in Serbia, etc.
